Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’d Slay a Lion to Get Early

Top Ten Tuesday was started way back in June 2010 by The Broke and The Bookish because of a love of lists and books. In January 2018 it was taken over by That Artsy Reader Girl. Jana assigns each Tuesday a different topic for discussion, she has a scheduled lists of topics on her blog, which you will find here.

This could be the easiest top ten ever.. There are SO MANY amazing books due out this year!! So let’s get started.

1. Legendary by Stephanie Garber

The sequel to Caraval is at the very top of my list. I read Caraval last year and I thoroughly enjoyed the intrigue, mystery and suspense throughout the novel. However I am hoping some secrets are revealed in Legendary, specifically who is the mysterious Legend? Legendary is released May 29th.

2. Eve of Man by Giovanna and Tom Fletcher

Giovanna Fletcher writes mostly Womens Fiction and Tom Fletcher (yes, husband and wife) writes children’s books. Put them together as a team and they’re releasing a YA debut in May, Eve of Man is part of a trilogy and as a huge fan of these singing, vlogging pair I am very excited. Eve of Man is published on May 31st.

3. Ship It by Britta Lundin

When I read the synopsis of this book it gave me Geekerella/Fangirl/Queens of Geek vibes. I just hope it lives up to my expectations, so far I’ve seen very mixed reviews. A brief description of the plot.. fangirl writes fan fiction, fangirl meets actor, fangirl fangirls. Ship It is published today, the 1st of May. So this is a book I would have wanted early..

4. Onyx & Ivory by Mindee Arnett

“They call her Traitor Kate.” Need I say more? One short sentence and I’m desperate to read this book, a fantastic title always helps too. Onyx & Ivory is published on May 15th.

5. Furyborn by Claire Legrand

I couldn’t tell you a single detail about this book, at all. But I have seen it EVERYWHERE! That’s probably due to the fact an Arc of this book was included in a British book subscription box, and has possibly added to the general hype. So I would really like to know what this book is about. Furyborn is published on May 22nd.

(I could create an only May releases version of this! But ill mention a few books with later release dates..)

6. Smoke in the Sun by Renée Ahdieh

Now, I must admit I was quite disappointed with the first book in this series, Flame in the Mist. I felt like the book was overhyped and was wrongly considered to be a Mulan retelling.. Mulan is in my top 2 favourite Disney films so I was expecting a lot more fighting and action and adventure in the first book. However I LOVED the characters, which is why I will definitely be reading the sequel. Smoke in the Sun is published on June 5th.

7. A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G. Drews

The only thing I know about this book is that it is written by a British Bookstagrammer who I have seen on IG & Twitter. I feel instantly supportive of any young person who was achieved their dream. I also have a sneaky suspicion this book will be included in a book box I’m receiving! A Thousand Perfect Notes is released June 7th.

8. Sea Witch by Sarah Henning

I only recently discovered this 2018 release, but as soon as I read the synopsis I was hooked. I’m a HUGE fan of stories involving the sea, mermaids, sirens, pirates… anything sea related. Sea Witch is published on July 31st.

9. Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas

I’m kind of excited for this release.. I’m lagging behind on my superhero reads as I haven’t even read Wonder Woman yet. My only excuse is that I have a paperback copy and the writing is tiny! So I’ve been putting it off, I don’t even own Batman. However I am a fan of Sarah J. Maas so hopefully I’ll read both books in time for release of Catwoman. Catwoman is published on August 7th.

10. Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

Throne of Glass is one of my favourite series’, I’m not an ACOTAR fan at all but ToG is perfection. I haven’t read EoS or ToD yet due to the long wait for Kingdom of Ash and I can’t stand cliff hangers, so I’m looking forward to a Summer of devouring every book in the ToG series. Kingdom of Ash is released on October 23rd.

And that’s the end of the list. Let me know if you’d slay a lion for any of these or if there’s some amazing books I’ve missed from my list!

Bookishly yours,

Hâf

  1. Ship It sounds absolutely adorable! I’m adding it to my TBR! I’m currently reading Flame in the Mist in preparation for the sequel to come out. And I’m also looking forward to A Thousand Perfect Notes; I have pretty high expectations being such a fan of her blog! Happy reading!
