Neverworld Wake ; Review / Blog Tour

Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl

Beatrice and her six best friends were the cool kids at school, the beautiful ones, until the shocking death of Jim, the creative genius of the group and Beatrice’s boyfriend, changed everything.

A year after graduation Beatrice is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery of Jim’s death, ruled as suicide, Beatrice is convinced her once good friends are hiding something. The night she meets up with them is spent in sullen silences and stilted jokes, nobody is willing to bring up Jim or his sudden death.

Then a mysterious man knocks on the door announcing that time has stopped for this group of now strangers. The only way to escape the Neverworld Wake is to make the harshest of decisions.

Only one can survive and the five of them must decide who that will be. Who would you choose?

I was hooked from the cover, ‘Five friends. Only one can survive the Neverworld Wake. Who would you choose?’. I could not put this book down once I had started it. I devoured Neverworld Wake in only a few hours. If you enjoyed One of us is lying but also enjoy fantasy novels, this book is your perfect read.

Bee a.k.a. Beatrice just wants to know exactly what happened to her boyfriend on the night that he died. She wants some honesty from her friends so she can finally have closure on the death that’s been haunting her.

But everybody has secrets and nobody is willing to give theirs up. One fatal collision later and suddenly the group are stuck in the Neverworld Wake, a day that is repeated on an endless loop. The only way to end the loop is to vote. Every member of the group must vote for only one person to survive. But with everyone selfishly voting themselves, will they ever leave the Neverworld Wake?

Who would you choose?

Action packed and brimming with drama and suspense, this is the perfect blend of YA contemporary, thriller & fantasy all mixed together with an eye-catching cover.

Marisha Pessl has succeeded to create the most intriguing and captivating world. I am thrilled that I was given the opportunity to read and review this fantastic book.
