I’ve shared with you my favourite books of 2018 but how about a list of favourite authors. These authors are the authors of books published this year or earlier that I read for the first time sometime this year. They are now some of my favourite authors and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy their next book.
1. Susan Dennard
This year I discovered the amazing Witchlands series and I’m devastated that I now need to wait for the next book to be released next year! Truthwitch & Windwitch are breathtakingly brilliant novels, and I’m on tenderhooks waiting for the adventures to continue.
2. Tomi Adeyemi
Tomi Adeyemi’s debut novel Children of Blood and Bone hit the shelves this year. And I’m still hooked on the action packed fantasy novel, it was incredible to say the least and I can’t wait to read more books by Tomi.
3. Elizabeth Acevedo
Elizabeth Acevedo is an author and poet, this year I had the privilege to read an e-arc of The Poet X and I was blown away by it. I’m not the biggest fan of poetry but the poetic words and sentences Elizabeth included in her novel hit me hard. I felt connected with the character from start to finish.
4. Sara Barnard
Ahhh, this author really does bring a smile to my face. If you’d seen me recently when an arc of Sara’s upcoming novel arrived at my house, you’d know how much this author now means to me! Her contemporary novels all tackle difficult subjects, Beautiful Broken Things had a slightly darker and more mature feel to it, making it my favourite of the three.
5. Sara Shepard
Famed author of the Pretty little liars series (now on my TBR), I read The Amateurs trilogy by this author and thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m hoping to read the novel The Elizas next year also.
6. Stephanie Perkins
I might be one of the only ones who had yet to read the Anna and the French Kiss, Lola & Isla.. books. But I finally managed it this year and what a treat those books were.
Did you discover any new authors this year? Let me know in the comments!
