The Black Flamingo Extract

Day 6 of #PrideLibrary20.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I adore The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta. I’ve previously published my five star review of this verse novel. But today, in my hopes of encouraging you, to buy, borrow and read this novel I contacted the publisher and Hachette have kindly sent me an extract to share with you all. Here it is:

What are your thoughts on this piece?

I love this entire book, I read the arc before it was published and then had the absolute pleasure of meeting Dean Atta at YALC in 2019. He is a joy to meet! If you liked this piece I really hope you purchase the novel to read it in full or ask your local library to acquire a copy. The audiobook is out now too, read by the author so check your audio apps!
