About Me

Hi! I’m Hâf. I’ve decided it’s a lot easier to describe myself using quotes from a favourite book of mine, so here’s one:

“I’m the kind of girl who fantasizes about being trapped in a library overnight.”
― Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl

That is me. My local library has been my sanctuary for over twenty years now and it will continue to be for many years to come. It’s the place I feel most at home, the place where I belong and I can be myself, cliché I know. I’ve buried myself in the world of fiction for so long, I’m not sure I’m fully capable of functioning properly in the REAL world.

“To really be a nerd, she’d decided, you had to prefer fictional worlds to the real one.”
― Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl

I’ve been trying to write this ‘About me’ page for over a month now and all I’ve done is struggle to come up with the right words, so I’m hoping these quotes will suffice for now. I’m that really shy and awkward girl you meet at a party or social gathering who squeaks out a reluctant “Hi!” and that is all you hear from her for the duration of the event.

“In new situations, all the trickiest rules are the ones nobody bothers to explain to you. (And the ones you can’t Google.)”
― Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl

Let’s finish off this embarrassing introduction with five facts about myself..

1. I’m currently 24, this could change in the coming months..

2. My favourite book series of all time is, drumroll…. Harry Potter. ⚡️

3. I live on a farm with my parents and my older brother, we have sheep, cows, chickens, dogs and a very spoilt cat who goes by the name of Tabitha (or Princess Tabitha if you’re speaking to my mother).

4. I’m a primary school teacher, possibly the WORST job for a introvert who needs at least 4 hours of ‘me time’ to recover from an intense 30 minute group discussion!

5. I’ve ran out of facts.. oh I’m single, not married, no partner… well that turned awkward pretty quickly.

“I don’t trust anybody. Not anybody. And the more that I care about someone, the more sure I am they’re going to get tired of me and take off.”
― Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl

If an album can be a playlist for your life, Fangirl is an autobiography of mine.

And that’s me done.

Bookishly yours,

“Underneath this veneer of slightly crazy and mildly socially retarded, I’m a complete disaster.”
― Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl
